- Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Mendocino County (Eastern Catholic) has a guesthouse you can stay at. Guests join the monks for meals, Divine Liturgy in English, and prayers throughout the day. Suggested donation $65/night. To reserve your spot in the guesthouse, email [email protected].
- The Abbey of New Clairvaux, home to a community of Trappist monks, is located in Northern California in the small town of Vina in Tehama County [video]. The monastery offers self-guided retreats, as well as a Long Term Guest Program with a minimum commitment of 14 days. Day visitors can attend Mass & the Divine Office with the monks, or do a “self-guided tour” at certain times
- Our Lady of Santa Clara retreat center offers "Personal Retreats," which can be scheduled on certain dates each month. You can do a directed or non-directed retreat. Costs vary. More info here.
- Our Lady of the Redwoods Abbey, home to a small community of Trappist nuns, offers silent retreats. Info here, but they “do not accept reservations over the internet.” You can contact the monastery by mail or by phone (707-986-7419).
